William (Bill) D. Scott, 73, of Marion, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024 surrounded by family.
He was born on May 31, 1951 to Harold and Mary L. Scott. He attended Marion Harding High School before entering the Marine Corps.
William married Mary Jo Scott on December 3, 1977 and together they enjoyed almost 47 years of marriage. They liked to go to gun shows and watch Westerns. They spent a lot of time at Indian Lake fishing, boating, having barbecues, and visiting family.
He was a member of the Meeker Sportsman Club and of Fairpark Baptist Church. His family meant everything to him, and he was always telling stories about family memories. He had a great sense of humor and always made the people he cared about laugh. Christmastime was special to him, especially when Amanda was little. Together they made many special memories. William was always a protector of the people he loved. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed old rock and roll and blues music. William loved sharing skills with loved ones, spending a lot of time teaching people to shoot and fish, among many other outdoors hobbies.
William was always on the porch smoking a cigar with his dog, or out back shooting cans with bb guns. He loved big dogs. His porch became the community front porch where all of the neighbors and kids would come hang out. He enjoyed teaching his grand-daughter and great-grandsons funny games that always got them in trouble; his favorites were spit balls and flipping silverware.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Mary L. Scott; and brother-in-law Paul Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jo; his daughter Amanda Scott; granddaughter Mickala (Quentin) Mosher; great-grandchildren Quentin Jr., Jaxon, and Tobias; sister Sandy Jenkins; brothers John (Lisa) Scott and Terry (Jane) Scott; his beloved dog Thor; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
