Virginia C. Seiter passed away at Heartland of Marion on August 21, 2014. She was born in Marion County on October 20, 1921 to the late Rev. Marvin W. and Lena Lanius Crabtree. She was a graduate of Chillicothe High School where she was a champion tennis player and played solo trumpet in the band. Virginia attended Rio Grande University before returning to Marion to work as the secretary to the treasurer of Huber Manufacturing Company, secretary to the purchasing agent at Marion Power Shovel and other office positions. She married Harold R. Seiter December 3, 1944 and moved with him to Murfreesboro, Tennessee where Harold was stationed with the United States Air Force. Upon Harold's discharge, they returned to Marion where Harold established Seiter Electric, an electrical contracting business. Virginia assisted her husband in this business and he passed away February 3, 1986. Virginia was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church having served as clerk and on various boards and committees throughout her many years as a member. She became a volunteer at Marion General Hospital in 1978. She started as a Red Cross bloodmobile volunteer and then moved on to mail and flowers and the Twig III gift shop where she was the gift shop treasurer for more than 20 years. She is survived by her daughter; Cheryl (Jim) Kelley of Marion, her son; Rick (Vickie) Seiter of Millfield, Ohio, 2 sisters; Nina Crabtree of Marion and Anne DeMaria of Elyria, her brother; Bill (Sherrin) Crabtree of Marion, 2 granddaughters; Katie Seiter of Manitowoc, Wisconsin and Noel Seiter of Kansas City, Missouri, a grandson; Jonathon (Sarah) Kelley of Richwood, a great-grandson; Jayden Seiter of Kansas City, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were a sister; Donna Merritt and a nephew; Jay Dee Merritt.
