Vernie Williams

Vernie Williams (Moore) a loving mother, wife, grandmother passed at her home in Marion on June 20, 2022.

Vernie was born in Martin, Kentucky on January 17, 1967 to Mineffe Moore and Janice Moore (Lucas).

Vernie attended Marion Harding and the Tri-Rivers cosmetology program where she graduated in 1985. Her and Maurice Williams were high-school sweethearts and were married on February 23, 1991. They were married 31 years.

Vernie drove school bus for headstart before her health issues began. Family always joked with her that she had what we called the "Santa clause syndrome" which meant everywhere she went kids seemed to come up and talk to her. She really enjoyed that. She got dealt a very hard hand in life. Dealing with serious medical issues for half her life. But she was always kind to everyone. A little blunt and forward at times but it always came from a good place. Anyone that walked through her door she would treat as family. She became a second mom to lots of friends and cousins.

Vernie's light in her life were her children and grandchildren. She loved going fishing and hunting with them whenever she felt up to it! And she attended every softball/baseball game she was able to.

Vernie was preceded in death by her daughter Jenny Williams, granddaughters Abby & Kynleigh, brother Troy Moore and father Mineffe Moore.

Vernie is survived by her mother; her husband Maurice Williams; children Carrie & Mark Mclain, Hank & Michaela Williams; brother Delmar (Kim) Moore; sister Brenda Moore; grandchildren Amya, Isabella, Ellie, Hank, Quinn & Archer; and a few very special nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday June 23, 2022 at Edwards Funeral Service 318 Mt. Vernon Ave., Marion, OH 43302 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Service will be Friday June 24, 2022 starting at noon at Edwards Funeral Service. Burial to follow at Chapel Heights.
