Venard "Ben" Blevins, age 79, of Marion passed away early Thursday morning at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Born in Greenup, Kentucky on December 29, 1934 to Jessie and Darlene (Nelson) Blevins, he married the former Dorothy Hawkins in Marion on February 3, 1965 and she survives at home. Ben served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and had worked in maintenance. He was preceded in death by 8 brothers and 4 sisters. Also surviving are his 2 sons; Mark (Evelyn) Blevins and Venard "Pete" Blevins, both of Marion, his 2 daughters; Jeanette (James) King of LaRue and Trudy Blevins of Marion, his 2 sisters; Mary (Ed) Dowdy and Barb Butcher, both of Marion, 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Friends may call Monday from 5-7 PM at the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Marion Cemetery where military honors will be observed by the Marion County Joint Veteran's Council. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association.
