With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Steven "Bubba" Speakman, who left this world peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the age of 71. Steven was a longtime resident of Marion, OH, having been born in Richwood, OH, on Sunday, June 21, 1953.
Steven was the beloved son of the late George and Thelma Speakman, who preceded him in death. He forged a lasting legacy as a dedicated Production Operator in a local snack food factory, where his tireless work ethic and kind presence were appreciated by all who knew him.
His passions extended beyond work to the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures. Steven was an avid classic car enthusiast, with a particular fondness for his cherished 1971 Chevelle SS that he had in his younger years. He took immense pride and joy in attending his grandchildren’s events, watching them grow and thrive. Steven also cherished his time spent at classic car shows and found camaraderie and laughter in his monthly meetings with friends from Wyandot.
Before the passing of Melody Speakman, his beloved wife of almost 50 years, one of Steven’s greatest joys was traveling with her by his side. Together, they created memories that will be cherished by those who knew them.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Melody; sisters Janice Corbin, Dee Chamberlain, Rosie Alderson, Dottie Wilson, Shirley French, and Helen Winterrowd; and brothers Jerry Speakman, Robert "Bob" Speakman, Gerald Speakman, and Raymond Speakman.
Steven is survived by his children Amy (Danny) Murray, Steven (Jill) Speakman Jr., and Scott (Stacy) Speakman; grandchildren Blake Ray, Lexa Ray, Kayla Speakman, Scott Speakman, and Samantha Speakman; sisters Georgie George and Carol Lewis; sisters in law Barbara Speakman and Francy Speakman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements for Steven Speakman have been entrusted to Edwards Funeral Service Hughes-Allen Chapel. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness that will be carried on by his family and friends.
May Steven’s soul find eternal peace, and may his loved ones find comfort in the memories of the joyful and impactful life he led.
