Prospect

Stephen D. Turner, age 64, of Marion passed away on December 22, 2022, from COPD breathing complications that he had been fighting for some time.

Steve was born in 1958 to parents Frank A. and Dorothy M. Turner, and the youngest of 5 siblings. He attended Olney Ave. Elementary School, Edison Middle School, and graduated from Harding High School in 1977 with welding as his major.

He worked at Marion Power Shovel as a welder after high school. From there, he ventured into home improvement and construction working for several different companies. He was also self employed for a time doing the same line of work. He, then, hired in at UTLX as a welder and worked there for almost 10 years.

Steve was a great guy with a big heart, very giving, caring, kind and sincere. He was always respectful of others feelings. He’d go out of his way to help and would give the shirt off his back if needed because his friends were his extended family and family was everything to him.

Steve always lived his life to the max-often burning the candle at both ends! Always was looking for a good time…..and a party! He was definitely one of a kind!!

If you were fortunate enough to have experienced the “gift” of Steve’s friendship you know what a “true” friend is. His path in life was just not long enough. His passing leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be replaced.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, and an older brother, David, and his two four-legged kids: Bear and Shila.

He is survived by sister Peggy Wiley, brother Wayne Turner, and older sister Madeline Gleespen.

At a later date, there will be a graveside service with a Celebration of Life party following.
