Beloved long-time River Valley School Bus Driver Sheridan W. Lucas, 78, passed away on September 29, 2018 at Kobacker House in Columbus. Born and raised in Marion where he lived with his wife Gladys Mae (Parsons), Sheridan drove the school bus for 20 years and served as a Maintenance Specialist with McDonalds for 37 years. Sheridan was born on April 30, 1940 to Ray V. and E. LaVone (Lyon) Lucas; he attended Claridon School and married Gladys, his wife of 57 years, on March 14, 1961. He is survived by his three children: Sheridan L. (Terri) Lucas of Colorado Springs, Glen E. Lucas and Sheri L. Lucas of Marion. Preceded in death by siblings Beulah Mae Phillips, Paul (Bus) Lucas, Blanche E. Austin, Esther L. Powers, and Robert Lucas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, grand-children Ashley N. Lucas, Ian M. Lucas, Katelin R. Lucas, Aaron M. Oldaker, and Lucas E. Gregory, and great-grandchildren Taylor Blair and Jaxen Thacker. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 p.m., with the funeral on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with James Bright officiating, both held at Edwards Funeral Service, 318 Mt. Vernon Avenue in Marion. Burial to follow at Marion Cemetery. We gratefully acknowledge the compassion of the staff and volunteers of Kobacker House for the loving care they lavished on Sheridan, his wife Gladys, and our entire family.
