Sandra Jill (Palmer) Humphrey of Galion, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, June 9, 2023. She was born in Crestline, Ohio on August 28, 1943, to Edna E. (Volk) and Gilbert D. Palmer. She graduated from Galion High School and High School in Arizona in 1961.
She announced her engagement June 10, 1961, Sandra married the love of her life, Charles W. Humphrey on July 22, 1961, who preceded her in death on September 28, 2021. They celebrated their 60 th Anniversary 2 months before his passing.
In 1966 they moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin. She was employed by the Fort Howard Paper Company and she waitressed in different places in the area. In 1980 the family moved back to Ohio to open a restaurant. They were the former owners of Humphrey’s Dinette, which was on the square in Galion. When they sold the business, she worked at retail stores.
She was very special to her family, and they were her number one priority. She loved to cook and bake for her huge family for the holidays, especially her pies. She was smart, friendly, sassy, stubborn, and humorous. She enjoyed playing cards, putting a puzzle together with her family. She loved singing to her Elvis and Rodney Crowell songs which she was a number one fan of.
Out of that amazing love the couple had two children, which they survive, Susan J. (Randy) Shaffer of Norwalk, OH and Charles Wayne Jr of Galion, OH. Four grandchildren, Derrick Schiefer of Galion, OH, Amanda Humphrey of Norwalk, OH, her twin sister Alesha (Jonathan) Humphrey-Kunk of New Carlisle, Ohio, and Starr Humphrey-Shaffer of Norwalk, OH, and one great grandchild, Adalyn J. Humphrey of Norwalk, OH. Two sisters Constance (Don)Ashley of Rock Hill, SC., and Nancy Palmer of Sun City Ctr, FL. One brother Terrence Palmer of FL. Two brothers-in-law Jerry (Kathy) Fox of Staunton, IL, and William (Janice) Fox of Candlewood Lake, OH and a sister in law Ellen Palmer of Mesa, AZ, and number of friends who were like family.
She preceded in death by her lovely husband; her parents; Mother-in-law Laura D. (Lehman) Humphrey Fox, Father-in -law Charles M. Humphrey (1938), step Father-in-law William Fox, niece Tamara Drumm, her sisters Mona (Jack) Estes of Tucson, AZ, Priscilla Gussie (William) Thoman of Mount Vernon, OH, Ralph Palmer of Mesa AZ, Charlotte Kay (Samuel) Stevens. One sister-in-law Ruth Ann (Humphrey) Drumm of Galion, OH and brother-in-law Richard Fox of FL.
Private service will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers any donations to the family can be put in care of Edwards Funeral Home.
