Roland Edward Harrington

Roland Edward Harrington, age 66, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on February 25th. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio to the late Roland and Blanche (Ferguson) Harrington. He leaves his wife of 29 years, Marie-Celine, sons Chad Harrington, Gary (Tiffany) Harrington, and Frank (Katie) Kobak; daughters Misty Kaye Stachler, and Caroline (Robbie) Kobak. In addition, his much loved grandchildren and great grandchildren,  nieces and nephews, whom he treasured dearly, and siblings Bill (Kristi) Harrington, Kathi (Rick) Hoops, David (Lynn) Harrington, Richard (Andrea) Harrington, and Joe Harrington, and the late Dianna Hurley.

All who loved Roland will remember his ornery smile and twinkle in his eyes. Truly a man of God, He who would freely spread the word. An anointed chaplain, he was active in his ministry to the prisoners' through the ministry of Freedom under the Eagles Wings which was begun by he and his wife, and a member of The Gathering Place, the Four Square Church here in Marion.

Roland recently retired from Marion Correctional Institute, where he served 23 years as a Corrections Officer. Prior service to his country included, the United States Air Force, Army National Guard, and a volunteer fireman in Roundhead and Indian Lake, Ohio.

With a passion for travel, he enjoyed many visits to the Smoky Mountains, and the east coast. He loved eagles and the freedom they represent. Family gatherings were a joy to Roland and he never failed to razz the kids and bring giggles and smiles. Always eager to assist, Roland's selfless love will be remembered by many. He treated everyone with kindness, humility and grace.

Visitation will be on Saturday March 7th, from 2-4pm, followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony at Edwards Funeral Service, 318 Mt. Vernon Ave., Marion, OH.
