Raymond Edward “Wild Man” Butler, 81, of Marion, passed away on October 20, 2020 at Marion General battling cancer. Raymond was born to the late George and Starling (Orians) Butler on August 1, 1939. He graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1957. Ray was known for his love of karaoke - especially singing Elvis Presley, classic cars, and WWE wrestling. He also loved riding his motorcycle. The Wild Man was also known as the best roller skater in Marion during his youth.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son Randi (Carrisa) Butler, his daughter Tami (Shannon) Gerfen, wife Judy Butler, stepson Ed (Tina) Gaines, step daughters Peggy (Odell) Daniel, Pam (Glenn) Miller, and Tina (Elvin) Collins, and his sister Martha “Sis” (James) Wilson, grandchildren Sean (Erica) Carr, Holly (Dave) Cosart, Audra (Dominick) Chango; step grandchildren Terry. Katlyn, Katie, Judy, Eric, Todd, Chris, Joey, Anthony, Hollie, Justin, Preston, Shawna Terry, and Alexus Gerfen; 30 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family is requesting friends and family to come for calling hours on Monday October 26 from 4 – 6 PM, at Edwards Funeral Service 318 Mt. Vernon Ave. The service will follow at 6 PM with Pastor Swart presiding.
Please wear a mask if medically possible.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Marion Area Humane Society . Edwards Funeral Service is honored to be serving the family at this stressful time.
