Opal E. Payne, of Galion passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Galion Community Hospital.
Born August 17, 1925 in Vanceburg, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Bertha (Cook) Carpenter. She was preceded by her husband of 56 years, Leroy "Roy" Payne.
Opal enjoyed watching wrestling, basketball, gardening, country music and animals. She is survived by a daughter, Rosalie and Roger Bond of Galion; two sons, LeRoy Jr. and Jewel Payne, of Galion; Thomas and Sarah Payne of Galion; a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Payne; a sister, Norma and Danny Farley of Kentucky; a brother Jimmy and Becky Carpenter of Kentucky; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; and her faithful dog and cats. She is preceded in death by a son, Charles E. Payne; three sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call Thursday, January 16th from 2 to 4 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home in Galion, Ohio where services will be held at 4pm with Rev. Lloyd Caudill officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to be handled bythe Hughes-Allen Funeral Home in Marion. Private burial at Crawford County Memory Gardens in Crestline.
