LLoyd W Heckert

December 10, 1930 — September 25, 2021

New Washington

Lloyd W. Heckert (90) finally realized a well deserved, much anticipated, and peaceful transition on September 25, 2021.  Lloyd was a resident of New Washington for the past 24 years. More recently he lived at Magnolia Terrace Assisted Living Facility in Galion, Ohio.

Lloyd was married for 67 years to his beloved Adena, who preceded him in death earlier this year on March 16th.

Lloyd was born on December 10, 1930 to Walter and Helen Heckert, in their rural home outside of Crestline, Ohio.  He was the oldest of three children.  He was a resident of Ohio and Crawford County most of his life.

Lloyd was a 1948 graduate of Leesville High School, Leesville, Ohio.  He enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean War era, with a tour of duty in Japan.  He took great pride in serving as a mechanic for the B-29 and B-36 airplanes.  Models of each hung in his garage workshop/”man cave” for many years, accompanied by his many memories and stories.

Lloyd was an adventuresome soul.  An avid pilot, he flew his own plane locally and to as far away as Colorado.  Upon retirement (30 years) from the Timken Company in Bucyrus, Ohio, Lloyd and Adena traveled throughout the United States in their 5th wheel camper trailer.  But most of all, he enjoyed motorcycles.  His first, a “Whizzer” kit, he installed on his bicycle.  At 18, he rode his 125 Royal Enfield to South Dakota…alone.  The last of many he owned over the years, he rode until well into his 80’s.  He once expressed the hope that there might be motorcycles in Heaven!

He was a quiet and confident believer in Jesus Christ, and a member/attender of the Bucyrus First Alliance Church, Bucyrus, Ohio.

Lloyd is survived by his daughter Brenda (Scott) of New Washington; and two sons, Bruce (Mary Lynn) of Warren, Michigan, and Randy (Kathy), of North Canton; 10 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

The family is so very grateful for the incredibly competent and caring staff of the Magnolia Terrace Assisted Living Facility, and the Bucyrus First Alliance Church.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.

A “Celebration of Life” service will be conducted at the Bucyrus First Alliance Church on Sunday, October 24th, at 3:00 PM.  The public is invited to attend.
