Lefa Laree (Axtell) Gorslin went to be with Jesus on March 29, 2022. She was born in Morrow County on December 24, 1925 to Fleet and Verda Axtell.
When Lefa was spotted by a young gentleman named Carl Gorslin, he proclaimed to his friends, “I am going to marry her!” They were married in Cardington, Ohio on June 30, 1954.
Lefa graduated from Olivet Nazarene College and received her Master’s Degree in Education from The University of Illinois. She began teaching in Illinois and continued teaching for Marion City Schools and serving as a guidance counselor at Harding High School.
Lefa had two beloved children- their son, Dana (Dawn) Gorslin and a daughter, Debbie (John) Tallman. She was a loving Gram to her granddaughters Andrea (Todd) Fichtenberg, Lindsey (Ben) Kruder, and Heather (Matt) Allen. She also loved being Gram to her two great grandchildren, Elaina and Ethan Kruder.
Lefa was preceded in death by her husband Carl Gorslin, her parents, and siblings: Devota (Carl) Burgraff, Evelyn (Jay) Click, Betty (Paul) Hayman, and Ronald (Catherine) Axtell.
Lefa was a faithful member of The Marion First Church of the Nazarene and attended regularly until her health prevented her from doing so. Her life was marked by her strong faith in Jesus. She always sought to know Him more and to follow His leading. It was always her desire to know that her family and friends shared in her Faith.
