Katherine Emerine Mitchell, “Mawmaw,” 72 of Marion, Ohio, went to God on April 22, 2024.
She was born July 31, 1951, to Helen Garrison and Sterlie Mitchell in Lexington, Kentucky. She earned her cosmetology license at 16 and began her career as a hairdresser, before later joining the United States Air Force in 1970. Katherine served as a Clerk Typist and was honorably discharged in 1971. She resumed her civilian career as a hairdresser and cosmetology expert and continued making people look their best for the next 40 years.
Katherine loved Jesus and throughout her life she brought the word of God to many people. If you knew Katherine, then she made sure you knew Jesus. Her tireless love of Christ was apparent, and her example brought everyone around her closer to God.
Among her friends and family, Katherine was known as a cheerleader, a hype-woman, and the biggest fan of everyone she loved. She made each and every person she loved feel special.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Sterling; her siblings, Linda, Cordelia “Cordie,” and Diane; her nephews, Byron and Leonard; and her beloved dog, Bo.
She is survived by her daughters, Dawn and Robin; grandchildren, Amber, Ethan, Katie, Grant, Hannah, William, Christopher, and Garrick; great-grandchildren, Jason, Rilan, Juniper, and Clover; and many other loving family and friends.
Katherine will be laid to rest Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 1:00PM at Dayton National Cemetery.
