James F. “Phil” Bass, 81, of Marion, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home on October 2, 2021, surrounded by family and friends. Phil was born May 15, 1940, in Madison, West Virginia. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing most of all. He often told stories about his adventures in camping, fishing, boating, and fishing trips and vacations in Canada with his family. He enjoyed watching sports on television watching everything from golf, tennis, bowling, fishing, and football - always rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Phil ran a service station for Standard Oil in Marion for several years, then hired on at Eaton (Dana) corporation in 1968, retiring in 2000 after 32 years of service in favor of life on “Easy Street”.
Phil was preceded in death by his wife, June Bass, parents Bert and Elzadie Bass, siblings, Bill Bass, Charles Bass, Paul Bass, Lewis Bass, Edna Powell, Marie Cramer, Pauline Stamper, a great-grandchild, Colin Bass, and is survived by three children; Michael (Kris) Bass, Philip Bass, and Elizabeth (Jerry) Foos, four grandchildren, Lindsay (Scott Sciullo) Bass and Danyelle Bass of Florida, Kyle Foos and Chace (Samantha) Bass, two great-grandchildren, Ellie June Bass and Evan Jordan Bass, of Marion, Ohio.
Funeral Services for friends and family will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Edwards Funeral Service-Hughes Allen Chapel, 318 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Marion, Ohio, with visitation beginning at 10 AM, Funeral Service at 11 AM, followed by interment at the Caledonia Cemetery, Caledonia, Ohio.
