Jack Lee Gohring, Sr.

Jack Lee Gohring, Sr., 70, of Marion, Ohio passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024 surrounded by family.

He was born on October 25, 1953 in Hemlock, Ohio. He graduated from Elgin high school in 1972, where he played football. 

Jack married Donna Prater on December 8, 1972. They started off as next door neighbors who grew up to share 51 years of marriage. They played in bowling leagues together and played cornhole tournaments together. In retirement, they loved traveling to Las Vegas casinos. Most of all, though, they enjoyed spending time together with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Jack worked at GTE/Verizon for 38 years and was part of the Moose Lodge #889 in Marion. There were many happy years of softball, bowling, deer hunting, fishing, golfing, playing cornhole, and storytelling. He played in pool clubs and had several trophies from pool tournaments. Jackie loved going up to the lake, where he made happy memories with his kids playing poker and taking the boat out on the lake. He was a lifetime Browns and Ohio State fan.

He is preceded in death by his mother Sylvia Jean Criswell; stepfather Don Criswell; biological father Hank Rostash; half-brother Johnny Rostash; brother Clyde Criswell; and sister Pam Criswell.

He is survived by his wife Donna; children Angie (Tom) McCullough and Jackie (Darrah) Gohring Jr.; sisters Donna (Tom) Tallon in Wyandot, MI and Debbie (Junior) Dilsaver in Marion, OH; brothers Donal (Vickie) Criswell in Sebring, FL and Chuck Criswell in Marion, OH; grandchildren TJ McCullough, Shelby McCullough, and Lilah Gohring; and great grandchildren Naomi and Bri’elle Keith; his favorite dog, Honey Girl; many nieces and nephews, and many friends.
