Herman Gibson, age 80, passed away on Sunday February 20, 2022 at Marion General Hospital. He was born on June 14, 1941 in Kentucky to the late Vernon and Alice (Reynolds) Gibson.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Kay (Slone) Gibson, children, Sterling Gibson, Angela Massey, Kristen Frye, Richard Crissinger, siblings, Bert Randall, Vernon Gibson, Bulah Faye Watson, 11 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
Herman is preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Alice Gibson, siblings, Arthur Gibson, Homer Gibson, Hershall Gibson, and, Elaine Sparkman.
Herman was the youngest of eight children and was raised in Raven, KY. After graduation, Herman served in the Vietnam War from 1963-1965 as a member of the United States Army. Herman married the love of his life, Sharon Gibson (Slone), on April 1, 1964. He loved to tease Sharon about her being the best April Fool’s Day prank anyone ever pulled on him. After retiring from Tecumseh, Herman and his long-time friend Marvin, started out on their own, opening M&H Trailer Services. He was not afraid of a hard days work. Herman also loved to go back home to Kentucky and was happiest when his whole family was under one roof. His family was his pride and joy.
When he wasn’t out on car rides with Sharon “hunting” for deer and lovingly aggravating her, you could find him at the local hangout or at his barstool playing his poker game and watching westerns. Herman’s sense of humor was second to none. Herman was a “story teller” and enjoyed sharing memories from his past with anyone that would listen. He joked to Sharon about being the boss of the house and took pride in always having the last word… “Yes ma’am!”
