Herman Carl Frank

Herman Carl Frank, born July 20, 1932, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2020 to be with his loving wife, Shirley, who preceded him in death June 2, 2020. He was a devoted and loving husband for 69 years to Shirley.   After her diagnosis of dementia, he became her primary caregiver and taught himself how to cook from her recipes, while taking care of the household.

Herm was a self-made man.  Born and raised in Dover, Ohio, he was the youngest of five siblings.  He worked hard all his life, sometimes having 2 or 3 jobs at once.  He found his niche in sales and was able to retire at the age of 57.  He loved his family, traveling around the U.S. and other countries, baking pies and bread and working his crossword every day.  He became the true patriarch of his family and was a constant source of strength, common sense and good morals; not just for his immediate family, but also for his sisters, in-laws, cousins and grandchildren.  His presence will be deeply missed by all.

Herm is also survived by his children, Steven C. Frank (Loretta), Susan V. Hodges (Marc), Michael B. Frank (Chris) and Mary E. Frank.  He leaves behind four grandchildren; Keith R. Frank, Katherine S. Esterline, Jessica A. Walker, and Evan M. Frank.  He adored his five great-grandchildren; Ava, Hudson and Harlow Esterline and Gavin and Owen Walker.
