Ellen Murrell

Ellen Murrell (Patton) of Morral, OH was welcomed into Heaven on December 7, 2019. She left her earthly home in the same way as she lived there, quietly and surrounded by her family. She was 79 years old. Ellen is survived by her husband, Earl Murrell of Morral, OH; her children, Doug (Brenda) Murrell of Nevada, OH, Chad (Reva) Murrell of Morral, OH, Tim (Ida) Murrell of Marion, OH, Keith (Connie) Murrell of Marion, OH, Brad (Wanda) Murrell of Garrett, KY and Grace (Till Jr) Risner of Marion, OH; her sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Wallen of Columbus, OH; her twenty-three grandchildren; her fifty-eight great-grandchildren; and her two great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lula (Mullins) Patton; her brothers, Paul Patton, Jack Patton, Charlie Patton, Bob Patton, and Judge Patton; her sister, Tennie Combs; her son, Wilburn Murrell of Marion, OH; her daughters, Clarice and Teresa; and her grandson, Timmy Murrell.

Ellen was born on May 4, 1940 in Hindman, KY to Frank and Lula Patton. In 1956, she married Earl Murrell on September 29. Ellen was a devoted wife and a loving mother. She gave birth to nine children, two of which did not survive early childhood. She enjoyed serving her family often, and especially enjoyed making holiday dinners for the family to share. She knew most of her recipes by heart, and always made room for people in her home. A quiet woman, Ellen served the Lord by making her home a place of love and hospitality for many years. In 1968, Ellen and her family moved to Ohio, where the children continued to grow, marry, and have families of their own. She was always close to her grandchildren and enjoyed being a part of their lives. She was a longtime member of Gebhardt Enterprise Baptist Church.

A funeral is scheduled for 11:00 am on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Gebhardt Enterprise Baptist Church, located at 894 Gebhardt St in Marion, OH, with visitation at the church beginning at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. A graveside service will immediately follow the funeral at Grand Prairie Cemetery. Flowers and cards may be sent to or brought to the church.
