Douglas E. Haley, 71, passed away on December 4, 2024, at his home in Mt. Gilead, Ohio from an extended illness. Doug was born on August 19, 1953, in Marion, Ohio to the late John (Jack) and Dorothy (Bradshaw) Haley.
He was a graduate of Pleasant High School and went on to be a proud veteran of the United States Navy.
Doug was a lifelong truck driver with Tri State and Ryder. Once he retired, he became a resident camper, and he enjoyed campfires and roasting marshmallows for smores with the grandbabies.
He adored his fur babies, who were his life. He never left them behind, always had the heat or air conditioner on in the car when he had to leave them. Seven, Kallie, Tank, and Pretty will dearly miss him.
Doug is survived by his brother Gary (Rita) Haley of Texas, his sister-in-law Diana Haley of Shelby, Ohio, his long-time friend of 30 years and ex-wife Elizabeth Malone, stepchildren Judy (Bryan) Patterson, Randy (Daphani) Brammer, and Skip Brammer of Marion, his grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. And can’t forget his best buddy and friend Glen Mitchell of Mt. Gilead, Ohio.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill, Bobb, Jim, Pat, and Johnny Haley, and sister Doretha (Dee) Ohara, and his little Yorky Josie Girl.
At the request from Doug and his final wishes there will be no service at this time. There will be a graveside service with a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Myself and my boys along with Doug’s family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude and a big thank you to the VA of Mt. Gilead (Ryan), Seniors on Center of Mt. Gilead (Bryan), Morrow County Sherriff’s Office, Mt. Gilead Police Department, Morrow County EMT’s, and The Morrow County Coroner’s Office (Jessica) for the care and concern for Doug and ourselves on the day of his passing. -Sincerely, Elizabeth Malone.
