Dolores Marilyn Basinger

Dolores Marilyn Basinger, age 89, peacefully passed away at Marion General Hospital on Monday December 06, 2021. She was born in Lima, OH to the late Ruth (Dollaway) and Guy McClure.

Dolores married Robert L. Basinger on June 09, 1953, in Ashville, NC, who precedes her in death. Dolores was an avid photographer and writer, and loved gardening. She was a longtime member of Epworth United Methodist Church, participated in the Marion Camera Club and Fine Arts, and worked at the Marion Star as the state editor for many years.

Dolores is survived by four children; Mark (Kathy) Basinger of Plainville, CT, Brett (Joan) Basinger of Tellico Village, TN, Karen Basinger of New Albany, OH, and Scott (Judy) Basinger of Blacklick, OH; grandchildren Robert Herskowitz, Rebecca (Jay) Jenkins, Kim (Tim Nelson) Tilles, Cheryl Venni, Stacey (Paul) Christinberry, Heather Howell, Kelly (Rob) Field, Stacie St. Jarre, and Matt St. Jarre, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by parents Ruth and Guy McClure, and sister Dorothy Crider.

Family will receive friends from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM on Saturday December 18, 2021 at Edwards Funeral Service 318 Mt. Vernon Ave., Marion, OH 43302. Graveside service will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
