Charles Humphrey

Charles Wayne (Chart) Humphrey Sr. of Galion, passed away from a short illness on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 surrounded by his beloved family. He was born in Caledonia, Ohio on February 17,1939 to Laura D (Lehman) and Charles M. Humphrey (deceased 1938). He graduated from Galion High School in 1958, where he was the one to watch on the football field. Number 22 made a lot of highlights for local papers. After graduation he joined the US Marine Corp. and went to Okinawa, Japan, after which he returned home to marry his lovely bride, Sandra J. Palmer on July 22, 1961. They just celebrated their 60 th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his loving wife Sandy. Two children Susan J. (Randy) Shaffer of Norwalk and Charles Wayne Jr. of Galion. Four grandchildren, Derrick (Jessica Bailey) Schiefer of Galion, Amanda Humphrey of Norwalk, her twin sister Alesha ( Jonathan) Humphrey-Kunk of New Carlisle, and Starr Humphrey-Shaffer of Norwalk, and one great grandchild, Adalyn J. Humphrey of Norwalk. Two brothers William (Janice) Fox of Candlewood Lake and Jerry (Kathy) Fox of Straton Ill. He is preceded in death by his mother Laura D. Fox, his stepfather William Fox, his sister Ruth Ann Drumm of Galion, and brother Richard Fox of Florida. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Capital City Hospice.
