Cecil Junior Poe, 78, of Marion, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 21, 2025.
He was born at home on May 15, 1946 to Corbit and Marie Poe in Marion, Ohio.
Cecil was a funny guy and loved playing poker. His outgoing personality would shine when he would play guitar and sing to his loved ones, and even to strangers. He raised three daughters and is affectionately remembered as a good and playful father. Cecil enjoyed playing card games and going bowling with his friends.
Cecil was a machine gun operator during the Vietnam War, and was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He bravely fought for and protected our country even to his own detriment; he was awarded a Purple Heart after he received a gunshot wound to the leg. His sacrifice is fondly remembered.
He is preceded in death by his parents Corbit and Marie Poe; five sisters and three brothers; and daughter Mimpsi Hamilton.
Cecil is survived by his wife Cressie Zwolle; devoted partner Jo Slone; sisters Dottie Martyr and Lydia Peck; brother Melvin Poe; daughters Dawn Thien and Fay Poe; five grandchildren Erick Thien, Amber Coleman, Jessica Cellar, John Hamilton, and Elizabeth Hamilton; eleven great-grandchildren; many, many nieces and nephews, and many friends.
