Billy Jean Ochier

Billy Jean Ochier was born on July 16, 1940 to William and Almeda (Cozad) Ochier in Kenton, Ohio. Billy passed away on July 18, 2021 after a long fought battle with kidney disease. He was married to Nellie Morris February 24, 1962 who passed away October 16, 1995.

Bill graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Business management from The Ohio State University.  He served in the United States Army as a Private First Classman from June 10, 1960 to March 1, 1964. After he came home, he became a welder. Bill and Nellie had four children: Terri (Robert) Grubbs of Kenton, Darrell (Wendy) Ochier of Sycamore, Darrin (Lena) Ochier of Sycamore, and Kristina (Terry) Simonis of Upper Sandusky.

He is survived by his grandchildren Danica (Edward) Dodson of Marion, Ashley (Ryan) Vehrs of Upper Sandusky, Dillion Ochier of Bucyrus, Nichole (Larry) Simonis of Bowling Green, Coddy (Brandi) Simonis of Upper Sandusky, Jena Ochier of Sycamore, Makayla Coots of Sycamore, and Makayla Ochier of Sycamore. Billy’s great grandchildren are Victoria (Drew) Dodson-Gannon, Paul (Jessica) Dunn, Taylor Dodson, Tyler Dodson, Nellie Dodson, Payton Dodson, Seth Hanjora, Cain Hanjora, Sage Hanjora, Alexander Hanjora, Malachi Simonis, Mercedes Simonis, Paige Vehrs, and Madison Vehrs. He was also lucky to enjoy great great grandchildren: Lexi, Sam, Drake (Gannon-Dodson), Kaelyn, Kaleb, Nikka and Jenny (Dunn).

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nellie, his brothers, his sisters and his daughter Kris.

In his younger years, Bill enjoyed playing and coaching many different softball teams. He was also a licensed slow pitch softball umpire. After a holiday meal you would see him and his family playing cards and having card night on the 1st Saturday of the month with friends.  From time to time he would enjoy a game of bingo with his wife. When he was home, he loved watching baseball, The Ohio State football team, The Grand Ole Opry, and professional wrestling.

Later on in life he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play softball, teeball, and baseball. He went to every game he could and continued to go just to watch the kids play; he became grandpa of the ball field. Once great grandchildren appeared his life became fuller. There was a game between two of his granddaughters who loved him and who he loved the most that brought a smile to anyone that saw it.  The places where he was most happy was at the Old Water Tower softball field watching his girls play ball or the “Castle.”

At the Castle he was able to enjoy the grandkids and kids running around and playing. When he heard the words “Hey, Grandpa watch this!” he always had the biggest smile on his face. His dream was to one day see one of the grandkids on TV wrestling with the professionals. He loved watching the guys and the guys made him feel like one of them. Grandpa has been a pillar of Savage Anarchy Wrestling (SAW) and was honored by having the Billy Jean Continental Belt named after him. He was inducted into the SAW Hall of Fame in December 2019 with his friends and family watching. He has become “Grandpa” to the Anarchy Nation.

Bill, Billy Jean, Grandpa whatever you may have called him has shown us what it meant to never give up. He honestly has shown us what it meant to “Put a Little Anarchy in Your Life.” Into his last days he was more concerned about making sure his loved ones were taken care of and them knowing how much he loved them and telling them everything was going to be alright.

There will be a private service for the family at a later date and there will be a public memorial service at the Castle (434 West Church St Marion, Ohio, 43302)  October 9th at 5:00 P.M.
